The Escape From The Rat Race

Do you dare to be happy?

This is a travel story of three different journeys that are interconnected and happen at the same time: the journey into ourselves, the journey to the other side of the world, and the journey to find the meaning of life. Underway we will define the concept of the rat race and use it to describe our current thoughts regarding the meaning of life. We hope this book will inspire you to reflect your personal motives and goals in life from a bit more selfish perspective. In the beginning and at the end, there are tests for measuring happiness. Me and several of my friends have lived abroad for years, and some have remained in those countries. We didn't stay in Finland to build a career first but left as soon as we could. And everyone had to support themselves through work, one way or another. I went to study, then love took me elsewhere. My story is typical. I returned to Finland after ten years and I’ve been unemployed several years because of my kids. I'm not rushing to return to work. My husband is working and at some point we hope to switch. I'm genuinely happy and doing exactly what I’ve always wanted. Am I right that, above all, your own experiences of working and creating a career have provoked such a strong backlash in you? Don’t you think it’s possible that many people may have had a better balance in life than you? Even if there are workaholics and hoarders among my friends, I know a lot of people who have pretty good values in life. Anyway, it was inspiring and interesting to read about your life and your bold life change! Thanks for that!
